If I send a biopsy to Global Pathology, how long does it take to get my results?

Typically, you will have your results back in less than 48 hours.

Can I send my biopsies to your lab even though my practice is not in Florida?

Yes, you will receive the same great service from anywhere in the country.

Do you bill Medicare and third party insurance companies?

Yes, we can bill Medicare directly as well as many primary and secondary insurance plans. Please see a current list of PPO plans in which we are a participating provider.

Are all your pathologists board certified in dermatopathology?

Yes, every biopsy is read by an experienced board certified dermatopathologist. Also, the laboratory is accredited by the College of American Pathology (CAP).

Do I have to pay for any of the supplies and/or courier results?

No, all specimen collection supplies and courier and/or shipping costs are provided by Global Pathology.

What is the best way to prepare the biopsy for optimal results?

Routine skin biopsies should be placed into a bottle of 10% buffered formalin (supplied by the laboratory) immediately after it has been performed. The bottle should be large enough so the biopsy is completely immersed in the formalin. If the biopsy is unusually small, please indicate this on the requisition form. The bottle should have the patient's name and indicate the biopsy site. The biopsies do not have to be refrigerated. If the biopsy is submitted for direct immunofluorescence studies, do not place in formalin. Please put these biopsies into Michel's transport medium. If you have any specific questions regarding the preparation of a biopsy, please call the laboratory for consultation.

Do you call us if the results are critical?

Yes, the laboratory will contact your office immediately after a critical diagnosis, such as melanoma, has been made or if you indicate "Rush" on the requisition form.

How can I get my results?

Your reports can be delivered via EMR direct interface, online web portal PDF downloads, hand delivered, faxed, emailed or any combination of these methods of delivery.

Do you use an outside billing company?

No, all of our billing is handled personally by our own carefully trained employees. Any billing inquiries can be directed to 888-898-8010. All calls are toll free for your patients and answered immediately by our staff.

Can I try your services with no long term obligation?

We would welcome that very much. There is never any contract or obligation to use our services. Our quality and service alone keeps our clients happy. Please call the laboratory 866-825-4422 or fill out the physician inquiry information and we would be glad to assist you with everything you need.
